Melbourne gunman was cleared of terrorist plot to attack Sydney’s Holsworthy army barracks

ISIS has claimed responsibility for last night’s Melbourne attack. A  29 year old Somali man was shot dead by cops after murdering a man in the name of ISIS and Al-Qaeda.  ISIS said gunman Yacqub Khayre was ‘a soldier of Islamic State’. Khayre has also previously been linked to jihadist sect Al-Shabaab.

Amazingly in 2009, Yacqub Kahyre was previously charged and subsequently cleared of a terrorist plot to carry out a suicide bombing of Sydney’s Holsworthy army barracks.

Is this another example of a flawed judicial system that has failed to mitigate a serious terrorist threat? Please see this article for more details. For bespoke Geopolitical Risk Assessments and Tactical Intelligence Briefings, feel free to contact our team of researchers at NSI.
